1. About BetterLife

BetterLife is a browser extension designed to help users reduce impulsive online spending and block access to specified online casino websites until completing a short reflection quiz. BetterLife is a support tool only and does not guarantee any particular outcome or financial result.

2. Eligibility

You may use BetterLife only if:

• you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), and
• you are legally capable of entering into a binding contract.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

3. Accounts and Security

To use certain features, you must create an account.

You agree to:

• provide accurate and up-to-date registration information,
• keep your login credentials confidential, and
• promptly notify us if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

BetterLife offers paid subscriptions (such as monthly or yearly plans) processed by third-party provider Stripe.

• By starting a subscription, you authorize recurring charges to your chosen payment method until you cancel.
• Subscription pricing and available plans will be displayed at the time of purchase.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe billing portal or as otherwise indicated in the Service.
• Unless required by law, fees paid are non-refundable.

Any changes to pricing will be communicated in advance and will apply from the start of your next billing cycle unless stated otherwise.

5. Use of the Service

You agree to use BetterLife only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Service;
• bypass or interfere with any access restrictions or security features;
• use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm any person;
• use BetterLife in any way that violates applicable laws, regulations, or third-party terms (including local laws regarding gambling).

You understand that BetterLife may block access only to domains or patterns configured in the extension and that you remain responsible for your own online behavior and financial decisions.

6. No Professional or Medical Advice

BetterLife is not a substitute for professional financial, legal, medical, or mental health advice.

• We do not provide therapy, addiction treatment, or financial counseling.
• You are solely responsible for seeking help from qualified professionals if you struggle with problem gambling or other issues.

If you believe you may have a gambling addiction or are in crisis, you should contact a local support organization or healthcare provider.

7. Third-Party Services

BetterLife relies on third-party providers such as:

• Supabase for authentication and data storage
• Stripe for payments and billing

Your use of these services may be subject to their separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or actions of any third-party services.

8. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using BetterLife, you also agree to the BetterLife Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual Property

BetterLife, including its design, logo, code, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the extension for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our prior written consent.

10. Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, including adding or removing features or blocking specific domains.

We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

11. Termination

You may stop using BetterLife at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling any active subscriptions.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if:

• you violate these Terms,
• we suspect fraudulent or abusive behavior, or
• we decide to discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect (including, but not limited to, limitations of liability and disclaimers).

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

BetterLife is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

We do not guarantee that:

• the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure;
• all gambling or spending behavior will be blocked or reduced;
• BetterLife will prevent financial loss or gambling-related harm.

You use the Service at your own risk.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BetterLife and its owners, affiliates, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from or related to your use of the Service.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

If changes are material, we may provide additional notice (for example, via the website or extension). Your continued use of BetterLife after the updated Terms are posted means you accept the changes.
